Learn About Naomi

MBA with a Global Business Management in a Digital World concentration | Dr. Wallace E. Boston School of Business

Naomi Parker has always been driven by curiosity—about people, cultures, and what’s possible when you keep learning. She started college early and entered the workforce with ambition, but without a rigid plan. When she was recruited by Walmart out of college, what began as “just a job” quickly became something more. She saw an opportunity to grow—not only within a global organization, but also as a professional who wanted to understand how businesses, people, and markets work together.

While building her career at Walmart, Naomi made the decision to pursue her MBA in Global Business Management at American Public University. The flexibility of the program allowed her to continue working full time, even through unconventional schedules that included overnight shifts and frequent travel. Rather than choosing between career and education, Naomi was able to do both—applying what she learned in real time as her responsibilities expanded.

Today, Naomi is the Director of Merchandising Operations for Walmart Canada, supporting hundreds of stores. She credits her education at APU with helping her accelerate her career, deepen her leadership skills, and prepare for what comes next—while staying true to her belief that growth doesn’t happen by standing still.

How She Did it

Following Her Curiosity

Naomi has never seen her career as a straight ladder. Instead, she’s followed her curiosity—moving across roles and disciplines to build a broad set of skills. That mindset helped her become a stronger leader and prepared her to work across teams, cultures, and markets.

Balancing Career and Education

From overnight shifts to international travel, Naomi completed her MBA while working full time. APU’s flexible online format made it possible to study from wherever work took her—whether that was at home, on the road, or between shifts—without sacrificing momentum in her career.

Investing in What's Next

For Naomi, earning her master’s degree wasn’t an endpoint—it was a launchpad. The knowledge and confidence she gained helped her step into larger leadership roles and continue setting ambitious goals, both professionally and personally.

I didn’t have to choose between my career and my education. I could do both—and that’s what helped me grow.
