You Should Leave College with a Degree. Not Debt.
You earned your military benefits and we want to make sure you get what you deserve. We created the checklist below, outlining the steps to use or apply for your Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
- Select Register Now at the top of your ecampus to get started
- Select your course and start date
- Review the attendance Requirement and Military TA Disclosure Policy
- Verify your Contact Information
- Select Veterans Benefits (Post 9/11 GI Bill®1) as your payment type under Military Payment Options. You will then be prompted to select your percentage of eligibility.
Please note: If your benefit rate is less than 100%, you will be prompted to select a secondary payment option during registration. Please ensure you select Post 9/11 GI Bill® as your first payment option. Let your admissions representative know and they can provide more details about this.
If you have never applied for or used GI Bill®1 benefits, visit the VA website and complete application form 22-1990. When completing the application, please use the following information for the school:
American Public University System
111 West Congress Street
Charles Town, WV 25414
The VA will process your application and send you a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). If you do not have a copy of your COE, you can send your Statement of Benefits: https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill/post-9-11/ch-33-benefit/.
Upload a clear copy of your VA paperwork through the secure My Documents portal, using your eCampus login credentials. You can also email your documents to [email protected]. Please ensure all email attachments are in a PDF or image file format.
Our Military Assistance Team submits enrollment certifications to the VA after the add/drop period. The enrollment certification will prompt the VA to send tuition payment to APUS. Any qualifying stipends (BAH / books and supplies) will be issued directly to you, which takes approximately 30 days.
In order to receive your qualifying stipends, you are required to verify with the VA every month that you are still enrolled in the same training that was certified to VA. For more information regarding Monthly Enrollment Verification, please click here.
