The Outstanding New Organization Award recognizes a newly created organization that has established a positive presence at the university and has collaborated with other student organizations or university departments to ensure they have a firm foundation for their chapter.
- Actively reporting chapter standards to show program progression
- No violations found or pending review of the student organization policy, or reported by the national chapter in the past year
- Established less than one calendar year at the university
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to organizational development and leadership
- Evidence of chapter activities that impact university life and create a positive campus presence
- Evidence of an active and engaged leadership board

- The University Awards Committee reviews submissions
- Top candidates are submitted to the vice-president of Student Services for final review and approval
- There may be more than one award winner selected in a calendar year (based on the discretion of the review committee); however, if no qualified candidates are nominated, the award may not be given
- Evidence of chapter activities that impact university life and create a positive campus presence
- Evidence of an active and engaged leadership board
- Award recipients are recognized during Commencement weekend
- Individual plaques for Chapter Officers and Chapter Advisors
- Perpetual Plaque in University Archives
- Award recipients are not required to attend Commencement to accept the award
Military Spouses Club
The Military Spouses Club supports military spouses, creates networking opportunities and serves as an advocate for the causes that impact military spouses. This student organization unites students, alumni, faculty members, and staff who are interested in supporting military spouses and the unique issues they face in their lives.
Chartered in February 2021, this organization has quickly grown to nearly 200 members. It is guided by chapter advisors Dr. Kerry Erisman, J.D., and Cecilia DeSilva Selbrede, J.D.
The Military Spouses Club's noteworthy activities include:
- Recognizing club members for inclusion on the quarterly Dean's and President's lists
- Celebrating member degree and certificate conferrals
- Developing and distributing chapter newsletters to club members
- Hosting guest lectures from career coaches and organizations that support military spouses, including InDependent and Brittany Boucher, the 2017 Military Spouse of the Year
