On August 4, 2026, American Public University System combined with Rasmussen University and Hondros College of Nursing to form a single higher education institution. American Public University System (the System) now includes American Public University, American Military University, Rasmussen University, and Hondros College of Nursing. The System is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Public Education, Inc. (APEI). We are continuing to update our website to reflect our new structure.

 

AMU and APU Explorers

The purpose of AMU and APU Explorers is to build community among students, faculty, staff, and alumni through a shared curiosity about people, places, cultures, history, and the natural world. The organization provides opportunities for members to share travel and local experiences; explore museums, national parks, historical and cultural sites; learn about different communities and traditions; and discover educational and experiential opportunities such as study abroad, Fulbright programs, fellowships, conferences, and field research.

Benefits include:

Access to a network that can provide support, insight, resources, and community.

To join the AMU and APU Explorers, complete an application!

Membership is available to university students, alumni, faculty, and staff members.

AMU and APU Explorers achieved ACTIVE standing per the university's Chapter Standards program. Active standing demonstrates an acceptable chapter involvement.

Campus leadership opportunities are a great way to meet other students, alumni, and faculty at the university while also developing skills in the areas of:

  • Administrative and project management
  • Organizational knowledge and strategy
  • Critical thinking and reflection
  • Communication skills
  • Leadership and teamwork

The Office of Student and Alumni Affairs is always looking for people to get involved and be campus leaders, including chapter officers, who lead student organizations like this one. If you’re interested in being a campus leader and chapter officer, please email studentactivities@apus.edu to ask if there are chapter officer openings for this organization!

Membership is available year-round to students and alumni in good academic standing in all degree fields at the university.
